Biography

Tina Champagne is the Program Director for Northampton Center for Children & Families at Cutchins Programs and an international consultant.  She is passionate about creating and implementing nurturing and healing therapeutic programs for children, adolescents, and adults. She is well known as an expert clinician as well as for her consulting work with a variety of state, national, and international mental health and occupational therapy organizations. Tina has created and provides popular workshops on trauma and attachment-informed care, sensory processing, and other integrative approaches.  She enjoys engaging in research and has numerous publications.

She has been on the faculty of the National Technical Assistance Center for the National Executive Technical Institute: Creating Violence Free and Coercion Free Mental Health Treatment Environments for the Reduction of Seclusion and Restraint. In this role, Tina has provided resources that have been integrated into the course’s teaching and web-based resources, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Resource Guide.

Awards

In 2008 Tina received the Massachusetts State Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award and a State Senate Citation for her innovative work and leadership in helping to integrate trauma informed, sensory processing approaches and reduce the use of seclusion and restraint in mental health care settings.  She was awarded the Catherine Anne Trombly Award in 2006 from the Massachusetts Occupational Therapy Association for her innovation in the areas of practice, education, and research in mental health. Tina also received the 2005 Irene Allard Outstanding Fieldwork Educator Award from the New England Occupational Therapy Education Council.
